10UAA Head Coach
Alex Netreba
Arapahoe Youth Hockey is happy to announce that Alex Netreba will be returning as the Head Coach of the Warriors 10UAA team for the 2024-2025 season. Alex is currently the Skills Coordinator and Director of Player Development for the Warriors Travel Program and was the 14UAA Head Coach in 2021. A native of Ukraine, Alex represented his country as a member of the U18 World Junior Championship (D1B). Alex moved to Colorado to expand his opportunities in hockey and played a significant role on the 2016-2017 Colorado Thunderbirds 18UAAA team that competed in the National Tournament.
Alex's background and experience in youth hockey is extensive. Beginning in 2017, Alex has a found passion mentoring youth players and helping them create new skill sets in an encouraging environment. His commitment to player development for the WARRIOR program will be instrumental in leading the Squirt Division as well as our entire group of players on and off the ice.
12UAA Head Coach
Kelly Hollingshead
Arapahoe Warriors Travel Hockey Director Kelly Hollingshead will be returning as the 12UAA coach for the 2024-2025 season.
With over 20 years of youth hockey coaching experience in Colorado, coach Hollingshead is very excited to be back behind the bench in pursuit of another successful season.
A native of Saskatchewan, Coach Hollingshead played youth, Tier 1 AAA and Junior hockey before accepting a scholarship to play at the University of Denver in 1992. Alongside fellow Arapahoe and Thunderbirds coaches and leadership, Garret Buzan, Charlie Host and Angelo Ricci, the Pioneers were nationally ranked and competed in 2 NCAA tournaments. As a senior at the University of Denver coach Hollingshead was named team captain by his peers and coaches.
Throughout his coaching career, Coach Hollingshead has coached at all youth levels including 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U which also included 9 years at the 15U/18U AAA level with the Colorado Thunderbirds program.
14UAA Head Coach
Matt Anthone
Matt grew up in Colorado and played for the Arapahoe Warriors and Colorado Outlaws. Following his youth career, Matt played two years of Junior hockey in Missoula, Montana for the Missoula Maulers before returning to Colorado for the 2011-2012 season to coach for the Arapahoe Warriors. During his three years of coaching in the Warriors program Coach Matt was involved with the Peewee AA, Peewee A, Bantam A and 18U teams. During his time with Arapahoe, he also coached two years with the Mountain Vista High School CHSAA team.
Last year coach Matt led the Warriors 14UAA team to a successful season and previously spent the past 8 years with Arapahoe’s affiliate AAA Colorado Thunderbirds program as the assistant coach for the 18UAAA team along with Coach Hollingshead.
Coach Matt is excited to share his extensive knowledge with the Arapahoe Warriors Youth hockey players and continue to help all players down the path of success and help develop all players to their full potential.
Jason comes from a rich history of Colorado hockey, starting with playing youth hockey in the Denver area and continuing his career at the University of Denver. He played defense on their varsity hockey team from 1999 to 2003. Jason was also a Colorado Avalanche Amateur Scout for many seasons. In addition, Jason has a strong background in coaching youth hockey in Colorado. From 8U to AAA, he enjoys seeing kids develop a passion for the game and developing their skills on and off the ice. Jason is currently the President of the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation and has two Arapahoe hockey players: Jack, 2011 14U, and a Lady Warrior, Violet, a 2014 10U player.
