FAQs

Common Registration Questions

What happens if my player doesn't get selected for a travel team?

If your player does not make a travel team, your funds (minus a $100 Association Fee) will be transferred to the Arapahoe Rec (CRHL) program. Team selections for the CRHL program take place after the Travel Hockey Tryouts, and everyone is guaranteed a spot on a team.

Can my players be on the same team?

Arapahoe Hockey Organization maintains a fair and equitable approach to team placements. We understand the desire for siblings to play on the same team for convenience and familial support. However, we do not accept special requests for team placements, as it is essential to uphold the integrity of our evaluation process and ensure fairness for all players.

When it comes to siblings within the same family, our staff recognizes the unique dynamic and evaluates each player individually based on their skills, experience, and performance during tryouts. This evaluation process is conducted impartially, with a focus on identifying each player's strengths and areas for development.

While we cannot guarantee that siblings will be placed on the same team, we make every effort to accommodate such requests when feasible and in the best interest of both players. This decision is made based on the evaluations provided by our knowledgeable staff, as well as considerations such as team dynamics and roster availability.

Is my player expected to travel?

At the competitive level of Arapahoe Travel Hockey, a significant commitment to team involvement and participation is expected from every player. This commitment extends beyond just attending practices and games. Players are expected to fully engage in all team events, which include a variety of activities essential for team cohesion, skill development, and competitive readiness.

First and foremost, players are expected to travel and attend all in-state tournaments. These tournaments serve as opportunities for players to showcase their skills, compete against other teams, and represent the Arapahoe organization with pride. They are crucial events where players can apply what they've learned in practice to real-game situations, fostering growth and improvement.

Additionally, travel tournaments, whether within the state or beyond, are an integral part of the competitive experience. These tournaments often expose players to higher levels of competition, challenging them to elevate their game and adapt to different playing styles. They also provide valuable opportunities for team bonding and camaraderie, as players travel together and share experiences both on and off the ice.

League games are another essential component of the competitive season. These games provide a structured platform for teams to compete against other local teams within the league, contributing to player development and team performance. Attending league games allows players to measure their progress, refine their skills, and work together towards common goals.

In addition to tournaments and league games, players are expected to participate in any other team functions deemed necessary by the coaching staff. These may include team meetings, community events, fundraising activities, or specialized training sessions. Each of these functions plays a role in fostering team unity, discipline, and a strong work ethic among players.

Overall, the expectation for players at the competitive level is to fully commit to the team and prioritize attendance at all team events. This commitment not only benefits individual players in their development but also contributes to the success and cohesion of the team as a whole. By embracing these expectations, players can maximize their potential and contribute positively to the overall team dynamic.

We have vacation during tryouts, can my player miss it?

Unfortunately, if your player is unable to attend tryouts at the specified time and date, we will not be able to place your player on a team. However, in the event of special circumstances, such as an injury, we may consider selecting players based on their performance and placement from previous years. Please note that this consideration is not a guarantee of team placement, as it will depend on the overall evaluation and available spots on the team. Any players unable to attend tryouts for reasons other than injury, such as vacation or other personal reasons, will not be placed on a team. We encourage all players to make every effort to attend the scheduled tryouts to ensure the best opportunity for team placement.

Can I do a payment plan for the deposit?

Depending on your player's date of registration, you have the option to utilize a payment plan for both the deposit and the remaining fees. This flexible payment option is designed to make the financial commitment more manageable for families. Specific deadlines for the payment plan, including due dates for the deposit and subsequent payments, can be found on the main registration page. We encourage you to review these deadlines carefully to ensure timely payments and secure your player's spot in the program.

Can we do tryouts and then decide if we want to play?

No, you must commit to the program before participating in tryouts. Registration and payment are required upfront, indicating your commitment to playing for the season. The Arapahoe organization has a strict NO REFUND policy, so please ensure that you are ready to commit before registering. This policy ensures that teams are properly organized and that all players and families are fully committed to participating. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our administrative staff for further clarification.

What happens if I don't like the team that my player makes?

If you are unhappy with the team your player is placed on, please be aware that the Arapahoe Youth Hockey Organization has a strict NO REFUND policy and does not accommodate requests for team changes. Our team placement decisions are made based on careful evaluations to ensure balanced and competitive teams. We encourage players and families to embrace the experience, as every team offers valuable opportunities for growth and development.
